It looks as if it will be between one and two more weeks before the forum is
mended.
As a temporary expedient I have subscribed all the 'lost' addresses to another
email list at Avnet, called 'newforum'. This is now subscribed to the forum
itself. The intention is that the 'lost' subscribers will receive a message
feed by a daisy chain until the forum list is fixed.
This message itself is reaching you by that route.
The messages should appear unchanged (except for an extra bottom line giving the
game away).
Problem notifications, such as now getting two sets of messages, to me, please,
at john@crixbinfield.freeserve.co.uk .
Replying to a daisy-chained message should post to the forum proper.
BEWARE: ('Lost' subscribers only) If you have changed any individual
subscription properties for the forum then they are not applicable on newforum
and will have to be done again, if you so wish. In particular, if you have
changed thr Reply-To property (to ensure that ordinary replies go to the aythor
and not to the forum, or because you use Compuserve and their message display is
not very useful unless you make this change) then the change has not carried
across to newforum and you will need to do it again - or I will do it for you
if asked.
If this starts up without big glitches I will start forwarding to the 'lost'
subscribers on newforum, only, the messages posted to the forum since the last
one registered on the web archive (May 17th), in batches of about 25 so as not
to swamp you. Anything earlier you haven't received should be on the web
archive (links on the Europa Club website and on http://www.crix.org.uk )
Let's hope it can only get better !
