So if there is concern about the magneto shielding wire acting as an 
overloaded general earth return, then the obvious thing to do would be to 
make the short length of wire between the engine-end of the shield and the 
engine block into a fusible link. Blowing of this fuse would only affect 
the shielding ability of the wire, not the functioning of the magnetos.
