Vane or blade?

If it is the small 'blade' version then I am fitting it and have it in
my possession.

As far as I recall it is manufactured in USA and I'm hopeful that Nigel
Charles will be reading this mail note as he purchased mine in US and
could reveal facts.

The only comments I've heard are that it's height at about 3" may not
place it in correct airflow pattern and I know of one Builder who has
raised it's height by about an inch by mounting on an additional
'shaped' plinth.<

There are at least 2 Europas flying with this blade shaped pitot-static
head without needing to add a stand-off. I have not received much feedback
by users. My Europa is not quite ready yet but having relocated the head to
the latest factory recommended position I don't anticipate any problems.
The only negative comments have been by one user who positioned it near the
inboard end of the flap and got interference problems with flaps extended.
I would suggest builders try the head at the factory nominated position as
this has proved successful. If you subsequently get problems make a 1"
stand-off and use bolts that are 1" longer.

This head has 2 advantages. Firstly it is very streamlined creating minimal
drag. Secondly it is less likely to get damaged due to its compact robust
construction. It is very important with any head with a static sense that
it is perfectly aligned with the airflow. If it gets misaligned (or in the
case of the tube type bent) significant static errors will be created.

I still have 2 spare heads available if anyone wants them. Anyone wishing
to deal direct with the supplier can contact Albert Snyder at :
