Following the recent discussion of trailer mishaps I have investigated
my trailer bearings and found that in one case the rear seal had been
trapped, and in both cases the split pins were relying mainly on gravity
to keep them in place. I also found that the standard size grease gun is
too big to fit on the nipple satisfactorily, and that one without a
clip-on head was necessary to get the grease into the bearings. With a
view to having a spare set of bearings to hand I tried to find identity
marks on the bearings but could only find one on the back of the inner
seal (which appears to be part of the inner bearing) which reads NTN and
L44643L. Does anyone know the identity of the bearings for the standard
factory trailer?
