Hi! Jerry.
At one of the original Europa Seminars we had a talk by a trailer specialist
. The key to happy motoring with a towed trailor double axle or single is
towbar weight and height .
The tow bar must be at the correct height for the towing vehicle also the
Centre of Gravity of the whole trailer and load must be in front of the axle
for a single axle and in front of the centre line between the two axles for
a double axle rig.
Also the drawbar weight must be within the vehicle recommended weight.
I've had my 22' double knocker caravan(RV for the American contingent !)at
90 MPH with no problem.
The problem arises in establishing where the combined C of G is of aircraft
and trailor with the aircraft towed empenage first.!!!!
The calculation is the problem but the rules stay the same. The other
problem is bounce and restraining the aircraft against it.straps holding it
down can cause as much damage as any other. Hence the combined weight needs
to be substantial to prevent the bounce , unless you have a trailor with
leaf spring suspension and shock absorbers.

I tried a trailer with two axles and it was my most unpleasant towing
experiance ever. The trailer rocked so the tow hitch pushed up and down on
the rear of the car. I couldn't go over 60 mph and it was awful. I now have
a home designed aluminium clad trailer that weighs 650 kgs. Single axle and
tos easily. Travelled around 2500 miles to date.
