The factory would not be very happy with using the starboard side as the
Main for two reasons:-

1.  It would be possible, if the reserve fuel had been used and only a
small quantity of fuel subsequently added, for there to be no fuel in the
reserve side - not a desirable state of affairs.

2.  By having the reserve on the starboard side, the fuel is refreshed
every time the tank is filled.

We are indebted to Alan Thorne, who was first to point out the advantages
of the present arrangement.
