I'd just use detergent  and warm water. You could use meths or even petrol but
either might contain grease and would tend to disolve the masking tape adhesive.
DON'T use any chlorinated solvents. It would be wise to try your solvent on a
bit of scrap first. Also remember that many contaminants cause stress crazing
over extended periods.
