I wrapped the front stbd pipe with 1/16" x 1" ceramic (tape,no adhesive) where it passes near the oil lines only.

I USE A WHITE PLASTIC CLEAN ROOM TAPE TO COVER HOLES AND IT COMES OFF EASY WITH NO RESIDUE LEFT BEHIND.

I hear the 914 gear box will last longer and it idles smoother if you idle about 2000rpm,my throttles will pull back to 1500 rpm whitch I use on short final to minimize the float but I bring the rpm'

ROB, YOUR HIGH EGT MAY BE CAUSED BY A MIXTURE THAT IS 2 LEAN. I HAD THE OPPOSITE PROBLEM (LOW EGT'S) AND RESET THE NEEDLE PLUNGER. SAM, 914 & 370 HRS(:=D8 )=20

Wow 145KTS @ 65% is incredible for even IAS at that power setting,are you sure about that,my 914 mono would be about 110KTS IAS at 65% power
